Pao Hui Kao 高寶惠 (TW) is deeply influenced by innovative materials, traditional craftsmanship, social issues, and ecological concerns. Through objects, sculptures, and installations, she transforms everyday materials and surroundings into extraordinary aesthetic experiences. Her projects merge the forces of nature with human artifacts, creating a dialogue between the organic and the constructed.
Her studio serves as a platform for ongoing research in experimental design, where sculptural forms and installations take on deeper meaning through their interaction with nature and its elements. This evolving process allows her to craft narratives in which the natural and the artificial merge, shaping conceptual landscapes that invite reflection on the philosophical questions surrounding the human condition.
In 2020, Kao created two collections —Paper Pleats and Lacquer Leaf—exploring the symbiosis of organic and mineral elements through materials such as paper, rice glue, Urushi lacquer, color pigments, and kintsugi. She was a finalist for the LOEWE FOUNDATION Craft Prize in 2022 and presented her solo exhibition, 25 Seasons, Landscapes of Paper and Lacquer, at Spazio Nobile in the Winter of 2023-2024.
Her work has been acquired by private and institutional collections, including the POC Foundation and the Boghossian Foundation, among others.
